JOB DESCRIPTION: Oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of recruitment strategies and activities for academic programs within a particular school. Attends recruitment functions. Reviews applications and recommends students for admission. Ensures that the applicant pool has a cross section of diverse candidates. Maintains contact with prospective students, candidates and recruiting contacts. Assists in planning and developing recruitment communications, materials and events to educate and inform targeted audiences. Maintains complete and accurate recruitment records. Conducts information sessions and answers questions from visiting students and parents. May conduct campus tours. May assist in staff supervision and evaluation. Performs related responsibilities as required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in business administration, education or related field. Three years of experience in the development or administration of education, professional or business programs, of which two years must be in a supervisory or lead capacity. Effective public speaking skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Initiates and organizes student recruitment activities that meet enrollment and revenue objectives.
• Develops and implements a recruitment plan that attracts a larger, diverse, high-caliber student body.
• Travel on behalf of Candler for recruitment and other related events 
• Establishes and maintains a network of church and professional contacts that align with recruitment initiatives.
• Develops and maintains tracking/integrated management systems that include effective communication strategies converting prospective students to matriculated students.
• Produces an annual marketing and promotional plan including the development of materials for print, electronic and web-based promotions.
• Assist in the development, maintenance and execution of the department’s communication plan to prospective and admitted students.
• Oversees a comprehensive admissions program that will meet enrollment objectives for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
• Reviews admissions applications; maintaining admissions standards, evaluation of student credentials, and admissions decisions.
• Develop and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
• Evaluates recruitment effort effectiveness and develops improvement proposals to achieve goals. Completes cost analyses for programs/events.
• Initiates and supports admission events, on- and off-campus.
• Speak publicly to individuals, groups on- and off- campus. Occasional evening and weekend work is required for special events and programming. 
• Assesses and evaluates performance of direct reports.

DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
In joining the Candler School of Theology student services team, which currently is comprised of eight accomplished staff members, including an Associate Dean, Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, Admission Advisor and Financial Aid Advisor, the newly hired associate director will be expected to develop and evaluate student recruitment, using Candler’s strategic plan as a resource for future planning and implementation. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Admissions and Student Services, the associate director will participate creatively in the office’s team-led initiatives to identify and develop new, innovative best practices for recruitment and student services.
The associate director must be adept at working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented setting, while also demonstrating independent but diplomatic leadership. Candidates for the position must be confident, creative, energetic, and willing to promote share team values, ideas, and goals, as well as an eagerness to learn new things. The preferred candidate will have a Master of Divinity degree, as well as ministerial and administrative experience. He or she will also have superior writing and oral communication abilities; ability to incorporate technology in recruitment efforts; giftedness in being sensitive to issues of call, vocational discernment, and life transitions related to ministry and service; a highly developed capacity and ease in working with diverse groups of people; familiarity with the vision, mission, programs, and policies of Candler School of Theology and Emory University; familiarity with The United Methodist Church, and various other denominations and church institutions. Credentials should also include successful professional experience and continuing education, preferably in admissions, recruitment, or student services in higher education or similar field.
The selected candidate will possess entrepreneurial skills with a marketing and promotional orientation within a competitive landscape; experience with electronic communications and customer relations; capacity for leadership, initiative and timely follow through with a minimum of direct supervision; a demonstrated ability to manage people and educational processes; an understanding of the unique characteristics of the local, regional, national, and international theological education market; a working knowledge and experience in fiscal/budgetary management.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
? 4 or more years experience of related experience.
? Demonstrated supervisory, management, and leadership skills.
? Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills.
? Excellent computer proficiency (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, email, and the Internet).
? Solid Database management skills (PeopleSoft experience preferred).
? Excellent organization skills with an ability to tend to details.
? Ability to be sensitive to issues of vocational discernment and life transitions related to ministry and service.
? Familiarity with the vision, mission, programs, and policies of Candler School of Theology and Emory University.
? Familiarity with The United Methodist Church, and various other denominations and church institutions.
