PART-TIME MINISTER OF MUSIC POSITION

First Christian Church –DISCIPLES OF CHRIST (Petersburg, VA): The Minister of Music works under the general supervision of the Chair of the Official Board and under the direct supervision of the Worship Department. He/She is responsible for planning and directing the musical program of the Church. This includes but is not limited to the following:

direct and play for rehearsals of choirs
play the organ for 11:00am worship services as well as either the piano or organ for the 8:30am worship service
direct special musical services, such as Easter and Christmas, and other times as opportunities present themselves (funerals, weddings, etc.)
take responsibility for supervising the maintenance and care of pianos and the church organ
order rand catalog new choir music and maintain files of current music
select music to be used as anthems or other special musical services, and, with the Pastor, select the music to be used in worship.
encourage vocal and instrumental talent among members of the congregation
serve as a member of the Worship Department and carry out any other duties as may be directed by that department
