Charlotte Gospel Shout Celebration Announced Back

Gospel Shout! 2008 Tuesday, September 9 7:30 p.m.   Levine Museum and Center City Partners present a free concert at the United House of Prayer for All People, showcasing the powerful music of local gospel and shout bands.  United House of Prayer for All People 2321 Beatties Ford Road (just south of I-85). This free concert will feature: A capella singers THE MADISON GOLDEN ANGELS - Reaching back to the earliest African American traditions, this group of men and women showcase the emotional power of the unaccompanied human voice. The MADISON STRING BAND - Since the start of the United House of Prayer for All People in the 1920s, musical instruments have been at the heart of worship. Today's electric sound mixes influences from gospel to neo-soul. Local shout band THE MADISON CLOUDS OF HEAVEN - An amazing home-grown high-energy tradition found only in the United House of Prayer for All People. Trombones, tuba, and drums praising the Lord! CLOUDS OF HEAVEN has performed at Wolftrap and been recorded by the Smithsonian. Come early and enjoy a soul-food dinner ($10) in the House of Prayer cafeteria. Dinner begins serving at 6pm.
